A Galapagos honeymoon: fairytales do come true in the Galapagos islands

The Galapagos Honeymoon of Your Dreams

All the guests are gone, the family went back home, the glasses are empty, the party is over but the true celebration has just begun. Plane tickets, bathing suits, camera… everything is ready for your Galapagos honeymoon!

Picture this…
Clear waters teeming with marine life surround you as you swim at Playa Mansa on Tortuga Bay — one of the Galapagos Islands and the world’s most beautiful beaches. Off in the distance, trees spread their limbs and cast fresh shade over the ground as the always curious and hungry finches jump around, oblivious to the human presence. This is how life unravels in the Galapagos Islands, where nature is at its purest and freest. And we humans become mere observers, lucky enough to visit the archipelago and explore the home of several species that inspired Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution.

The mesmerizing surroundings hold a surprise around every corner, or so it seems. From the hospitality of its people all the way to its unique flora and fauna, Galapagos is unlike anything you have ever seen. Crystal-clear waters, white-sand beaches, dried lava tunnels, and the second widest crater in the world, along with the best spots for scuba diving and snorkeling.

The Galapagos Islands truly seem to have it all!

The First of Many Adventures Together

The archipelago has been the home to Spanish conquerors and English pirates, and today, its amazing endemic wildlife still remains. The surrounding waters, protected in marine reserves, offer one of the world’s last pristine seas. And if you or your spouse happens to be a history buff, or a lover of science, remember that the islands provided one of many important clues that helped Charles Darwin develop his theories of evolution as described in The Origin of Species. Everything comes together in this one magical, out-of-this-world place: the Galapagos Islands.

The most enchanting of sunsets

Few sunsets in the world are as stunning, breath-taking and magical as the ones in Galapagos. It’s something about the sky, how the wind flows, and how the sun paints the clouds. Incredible hotel!

Reviewed yesterday NEWvia mobile

My husband and I spent our honeymoon at finch bay. I cannot explain how incredible the staff were. When we arrived we were greeted by Irene and I explained to her that my husband was unwell. She immediately sent liquids to help him to our room and he was served a special meal every day until he felt better. Once he was better, on our final night, the staff surprised us with a special private meal by the pool, under the stars, which was simply unbelievable. We were given private tours every day and our guides were knowledgeable and so helpful. The food was some of the best I’ve ever eaten and my husband was so upset he was unable to eat it until the final day! Every staff member at the hotel learns your name and they make you feel that there is nothing they will not do to make your stay special. I recommend this hotel to anyone looking for some luxury in the Galapagos and excellent and well-planned tours. We will all the staff there and especially Cesar who is the best waiter I have ever come across!

Incredible honeymoon spot!

Reviewed 3 weeks ago

We cannot possibly say enough about this hotel, and specifically their staff…. our experience was AMAZING. We booked an 8 day /7-night package for our honeymoon in November 2016. From the first day, many of the staff knew our names and were very cordial. It really felt like home-away-from-home…. But in paradise.

The first recommendation – do the all-inclusive package….. doing so eliminates any guesswork, and the staff adapts quickly to any changes on the fly (instead of you having to do so): they transformed a temporary power outage into a romantic candlelight dinner service! Our package included all meals, including packed snacks for times we were hiking to a beach, which was delicious! We have a gluten allergy and notified the hotel well in advance – because of that, they ensured we had special gluten-free bread at every meal in addition to adapting almost every option on the chef’s menu for us. The service made our stay very comfortable, going out of their way to stay out of our way. The front desk staff (Irene) were very welcoming and had plenty of advice when we had questions. The food and beverage staff (Jose/Cesar/Pepe) always went out of their way to make sure we were satisfied…. BUT, remember this is an island – the supply boat doesn’t come every day and it doesn’t come with every possible option the chef may desire (we had plenty of the “fish of the week”). This is no different from any other island paradise, and the kitchen staff is knowledgeable and creative enough to “work with the hand they are dealt.” A special shout-out to Jose, who set up a surprise last dinner for us that included a custom menu based on what we liked from the week – “¡INCREÍBLE!”

The excursions showed us the variety of wildlife on the islands and made sure we got to experience it “the Galapagos way” (up close and personal). Our tour guide (Soto) had answers to every possible question we could think of…. Including historical perspectives since he was born and raised on Santa Cruz. We saw everything from cane sugar/rum production to…. a farm that can only be described as Jurassic Park (with massive tortoises wandering around) to…. swimming with sea lions & penguins.

This was truly a once in a lifetime experience that we know will stick with us forever! We HIGHLY recommend Finch Bay Hotel (especially for newlyweds looking for something a little bit more unique than the average Cancun honeymoon)!
