WORLD TRAVEL AWARDS SUCCESSES

We are delighted to share with you news of our hotels’ and partners’ successes at the World Travel Awards, which were held in Quito on Saturday night. The gala ceremony saw 300 participants from Mexico, Central and South America’s travel and hospitality world gather for the “Oscars of the travel industry”.

For the third consecutive year, the Finch Bay Eco Hotel in Galápagos was honoured as “South America’s Leading Green Hotel”, in recognition of its constant striving to innovate in sustainable practices, as well as its warm service ethos – product of a remarkable team of people – updated infrastructure and facilities, and the recognised culinary creations of its chefs.

Our holding group’s Mashpi Lodge was also recognised for its environmental efforts, named “Ecuador’s Leading Green Hotel”, a great seal of approval for the hotel’s efforts in establishing its private, 1,300-hectare (3,200-acre) reserve amid the extremely biodiverse and endangered Chocó region northwest of Quito.

On the night, the city of Quito took the most anticipated prize as “South America’s Leading Destination” for the second year running. Other continent-wide prizes went to the Tren Crucero as “South America’s Leading Luxury Train”, Ecuador as “South America’s Leading Green Destination”, while “South America’s Leading Tourist Board” went to Ecuador’s Ministry of Tourism.

Other relevant awards were given to our partners at LAN Airlines as “South America’s Leading Airline”; Quito’s Mariscal Sucre Airport as “South America’s Leading Airport”; as well as our friends and partners in Ecuador: Hotel Plaza Grande, Swissôtel Quito, JW Marriott Hotel Quito, Hilton Colon Guayaquil Hotel, Arasha Tropical Forest Resort & Spa and Termas de Papallacta.

Peru was also recognised as the winner of several categories, including South America’s Leading Culinary, Cultural and Heritage destination.
